Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA)

Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA) is a traffic safety function based on an in-vehicle device that informs the driver of the posted speed-limit and provides a warning if the limit is exceeded, i.e. when the driver is speeding.  ISA is an application that will increase traffic safety but also contribute to reach environmental goals.

Some ISA-projects undertaken by Sweco
• Implementation strategy in the City of Stockholm; Sweco assists the City of Stockholm in implementing ISA in all vehicles by 2010. www.stockholm.se/isa
• PROSPER; an EU-project investigating policy issues related to an ISA implementation in Europe. Sweco's role was to investigate legal and organisational issues
• National field trials in Umeå, Borlänge, Lidköping and Lund. Sweco was project manager, technical adviser and designer
• Kval-ISA; R&D (Research and Development) project on quality assurance and methods for handling
• HMI-ISA; R&D project exploring additional ISA interfaces
