Seven seconds – that’s how long you have to view each of the five works of art in the Northern Link tunnel. Working in close cooperation, artists and architects created the art in the tunnel, which is meant to provide an experience while also making the trip safer.

Assignment: The artwork in the northern link (Norra Länken)

Location: Stockholm

Client: Swedish Transport Administration

Completed: 2014

Responsible archtiect: PeGe Hillinge

How does one make a stretch of tunnel that is several kilometres long into a lucrative experience, while also maintaining and even enhancing safety? The answer is: with art. Design skills, architectural space configuration and artistic design have resulted in five strong works of art.

The theme of the concept derives from the nearby National City Park, Haga Park, and the four seasons.
