In a commission for Skanska in partnership with Hammarö municipality, Sweco architects have designed Hammarö’s new school, which accomodates 500 pupils and 60 teachers.
Assignment: Bärstad School
Location: Hammarön, Karlstad
Area of expertise: Architecture
Client: Skanska and Municipality of Hammarö
Period of assignment: 2014
Responsible Architect: Charlotta Andersson
The Bärstad School is located in a forest area and is surrounded by tall pines. To ensure the best possible result, all of the parties involved were incorporated at an early stage, pursuant to a methodology known as Design dialogue. All of the parties have worked together and participated in four workshops. “A touch of the countryside” served as a touchstone during the process.
The Bärstad School is now also certified in accordance with the Environmental Building Gold standard.
