Sweco has studied and planned a borehole thermal energy storage (BTES) solution to heat and cool the Trängkåren 7 property in Stockholm. With the new BTES system, the property’s energy costs can be halved.
Assignment: Trängkåren 7
Location: Stockholm, Sweden
Client: Fabege AB
Area of operation: Geothermal energy
The Trängkåren 7 property is located in the Marieberg area of Stockholm and was built in the early 1960s. The two existing cooling pumps are now being supplemented with a new cooling pump that extracts cooling from the underlying rock, after which the property will have a virtually self-generated supply of heating and cooling.
Boring of the BTES system has been carried out indoors, in an existing parking garage where printing presses for newspaper production were previously placed.
