Elnät mot blå himmel

What would the digital world be without energy?

In this seminar, we explores one of the data center industry’s key challenges: securing power, capacity, and sustainable growth as demand increases. While Sweden and the Nordic region benefit from largely renewable electricity, cold winters and grid constraints create peak load challenges when new data centers seek connection.

Rather than asking if data centers can connect, the focus shifts to how they can scale intelligently. A major opportunity lies in the heat generated by data centers. With higher power densities and new cooling solutions, data centers can play a more active role in the energy system through heat reuse, flexibility, and grid support.

Magnus Lindén is a senior consultant at Sweco with over 25 years of experience in Nordic energy markets. His work focuses on enabling the energy transition by unlocking flexibility, improving grid utilization, and creating value from residual heat through solutions such as modular district heating.
